Ice Storm

We have the most amazing smallish ice storm happening. Wet snow came and clung to the sides of tree trunks, houses and hydro lines about 5 days ago. Then rain came and warmer temperatures but for some reason the snow continued to cling and didn’t slide off. Now it’s minus 12 and it’s all frozen. Trees are bowed very low; everything looks heavily laden and ready to break. But there’s no wind to speak of. All is quiet. Once, in the forest, a light breeze stirred and it sounded like glass wind chimes from far away. There’s only been one very short power outage. It’s like the whole world is holding its breath.
