The second snow of the season but the first real one. Driving was difficult, and at times, we had big, fat, beautiful snowflakes. Mostly, though, it was gentle flakes, on and off throughout the day.

The forest was gorgeous. I was worried we wouldn’t be able to see the trail, but the snow was light and had melted into the ruts so it was fairly easy to follow. We saw deer tracks underneath an apple tree. They were fresh - the deer must have heard us coming and run away just before we could see them!
